committee of recommandation: Farah Karimi, director of Oxfam-Novib
, Jahan Valianpour, member of Purmerend city counsel and executive of Zamaneh Radio Inspiran is a traveling exhibition in the Netherlands of artists from different backgrounds and experiences who feel inspired by various aspects of Iranian culture. At this moment three of them are Iranian born, three others are Dutch natives. Inspiran was first seen in februari 2008 in de KunstKerk, Amsterdam. Recently: from 3th -25th june in Utrecht Townhall, Korte Minrebroederstraat 2, with extra program in Mill The Star with visual works from Inspiran participants and poetry (Nafiss Nia), music (Shorideh), literature (Nanny de Vries) and calligraphy (Araz Mori). Also recently: from 25th march - 19th of april 2009 in the Old Villagehall, Warmond (province of South-Holland), (some pictures of the de opening) expected in 2010: Inspiran in Staa-gallery, Alphen a/d Rijn, (more info later) Usually art-developments follow those that takes place in the rest of the world. And while some conservatives fuss about forbidding other norms and values than those that we call "Dutch", or "Western", some artists are eager to question. Might other norms turn out to be values as well? The artists involved experience culture as a meeting ground. Culture does not destroy, it builds up. At this time the political course that Iran is following is receiving a lot of criticism worldwide. Iran, however, is much more than its present day-to-day political course. It is, especially and above anything else, an old and exceptionally rich culture, a perpetually renewing dynamism of over and over sought after refinement For the Inspiran participants this is the basic point of view. . pictures of opening in de KunstKerk, Amsterdam, februari 2008 Click on icons for more info about the artists Jeroen van Paassen and Behrouz Naghipour do not participate in the present exhibition anymore. |
